Under the direction of the Chief Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicist, supports The MetroHealth System’s Safety Programs for radiation-generating, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance equipment. Maintains quality assurance and improvement efforts for all imaging equipment. Ensures departmental compliance with all regulatory/certification/accreditation requirements, including applicable continuing education requirements. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Other information: Required: Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Program (CAMPEP) approved Medical Physics Training program, OR other similar training. Meets one of the following: • Certified Diagnostic Physicist by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP). • Board-eligible for a Diagnostic Medical Physics Certification from the ABR (including having successfully completed parts 1 and 2 of the examination), AND must successfully pass the Oral Examination within 3 years of employment. Eligible to become a Certified Radiation Expert from the Ohio Department of Health in both the Diagnostic and Mammography categories. Satisfies Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) Medical Physicist requirements. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with providers and other groups.
Preferred: Doctorate in Medical Physics or other similar ABR/ABMP accepted degree related to a Diagnostic Radiology certification. 2 years of clinical experience in diagnostic imaging medical physics, which may include residency training experience. Experience performing equipment evaluations for all types of imaging systems, including radiographic, fluoroscopic, breast imaging, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and stereotactic breast biopsy.
Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to forty (40) pounds on occasion. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
