Inova Schar Cancer Institute (ISCI) is searching for a clinically oriented, board certified medical physicist for our Brachytherapy program. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of fourteen physicists, provides clinical physics services and promotes department research outputs.
Inova Schar Cancer Institute is an international center for advanced cancer care and research, serving Northern Virginia, the Washington, DC metro area, and the world beyond. As the flagship location for INOVA Health System, ISCI treats over 1,100 patients per year across all cancer disease sites. Our brand new over 100,000 sq. ft. facility will be one of the premier radiation oncology facilities in the world that will feature multiple radiation oncology treatment options, including a two gantry IBA pencil-beam proton therapy machine. Our equipment will also include two Varian TrueBeams, one Varian Trilogy and one M6 CyberKnife treatment unit. These will be supported by RayStation, Eclipse and Multiplan treatment planning systems and Aria patient management system. The new center also includes a state-of-art 3T MRI scanner and a 64 slices dual energy GE revolution CT.
We also have an active Brachytherapy program (~300 patients/year) consisting of GYN, prostate and skin HDR, prostate seed implants, Zeiss IORT, Sirspheres and Xofigo. The new facility has two HDR vaults sharing a new Elekta Flexitron HDR unit. One of the Vaults will also equip a Canon 40 slices Ultra High Resolution CT. The successful applicant will be in charge of the brachytherapy program and will also join a range of radiation oncology services to keep a physicist engaged and their skills sharp. The staff physicist will report to the Director of Medical Physics for Inova and work under the direction of physicians from Radiation Oncology Associates group. The ideal candidate will be energetic and well-trained, possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, and have interest in potential career advancement within the Inova system.
M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics or related fields
Five years of clinical experience with at least three years of Brachytherapy experience. Prior experience with Elekta HDR system preferred
Candidate has maintained education requirements to be a Board Certified Medial Physicist in good standing.
Research background and experience will be helpful and useful
