Sentara Healthcare, located in Norfolk, Virginia and surrounding regions, is searching for an assistant medical physicist to join our growing Medical Physics team. Our group provides Medical Physics services to all Sentara Healthcare facilities in Virginia and northern North Carolina.
The successful applicant must be a self-starter, with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Science or a related field from an accredited four years college or university. The candidate must also meet or, be willing to work toward to, the Virginia Department of Health requirements for a private inspector and North Carolina registration for Medical Physicists.
A candidate, who meets FDA and/or State approved for mammography and the ACR requirements for a qualified medical physicist for all accredited modalities, will be a plus, but this is not required.
The assistant medical physicist shall be enthusiastic and eager to contribute, as well as learn in a diverse healthcare environment. The successful applicant must have a wide range of exposure to all imaging modalities and a foundation of knowledge to build upon. Under the direction of the Regional Manager for Medical Physics and Radiation Safety, your areas of responsibility will include and are not limited to: State of Virginia and North Carolina annual inspections, policies and procedures implementation and reviews and perform radiation safety duties, as needed. We seek a professional with strong communication and written skills, integrity, and a strong work ethic to be applied both independently and as a team player. Seasoned, experienced assistant medical physicist as well as early entrants may apply.
