What you will do:
As a Chief Radiation Oncology Physicist for St. Vincent’s Medical Center, you will have the opportunity to ensure the quality of care in the use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment, while protecting patients and staff from radiation. St. Vincent’s prides itself in employing some of the best healthcare professionals in Connecticut. As a Senior Physicist you will perform required calibrations on radiation therapy equipment and recommending and justifying new equipment and products for the Radiation Therapy department.
You will conduct equipment performance reviews as needed and implement quality control procedures for imaging devices.
As a Chief Physicist, you will educate staff in radiation safety practices and recommend radiation safety procedures to areas using radiation.
Part of your role includes ensuring compliance with all appropriate regulatory agencies and handles the administration of personnel radiation monitoring programs.
You will have the opportunity to develop and maintain a quality assurance program for all treatment machines and planning systems.
This role is key in supporting all physics aspects of patient treatment including consultation with radiation oncologists, calculation of radiation doses, design and fabrication of treatment aids and assurance of the accuracy of all treatment parameters.
As a Senior Physicist on the radiation oncology team you will provide support and oversight for dosimetrists
You will also have the opportunity to perform treatment planning evaluation, dose calculation verification and phantom measurements, including performing radiation treatment planning, radiation dose calculation for IMRT, brachytherapy.

Interested in a work/life balance? You’ll find it here! This position is a full-time position, 40 hours/week, from 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday with occasional hours as needed.

What you will need:
Certified Medical Physicist credentialed from the American Board of Radiology.
Education and Work Experience:
Master's Level Degree, PhD preferred
5+ years’ experience with SRS, HDR, IMRT, IGRT, BrainLab, ExacTrac, Eclipse and Oncentra Brachytherapy software preferred.
