Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH) and Christiana Care Health Systems (CCHS), Departments of Radiation Oncology are seeking applicants for three CAMPEP accredited full time 2-year residency positions. Two residents will be at the TJUH center city campus in Philadelphia, PA and one resident will be at CCHS in Christiana, Delaware. All 3 positions are accredited, this program has been accredited for 11 years. Jefferson and Christiana have strong clinical and research programs in IGRT, IMRT/VMAT, stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy, and radiobiology.
The Center City Radiation Oncology Department at Jefferson has state of the art technologies, which include 2 Elekta and 6 Varian linear accelerators and a Gammaknife Icon, all with conebeam CT capability (2 with 4D-CBCT) and electronic portal imaging systems. Additionally, there are Elekta and Varian Robotic-controlled patient couches with six degrees of freedom movements, GE 4D CT, Cyberknife, Elekta/XiO plus Monaco Monte Carlo treatment planning system and Varian/Eclipse treatment planning systems, Oncentra, MiMvista image analysis software and MimSymphony LDR planning, HDR, IMRT, TBI/TSET, SRS, radioactive microspheres and radiopharmaceutical therapies, prostate HDR, CS-131 head and neck LDR, hyperthermia and department-wide RT-PACs system. Over the next two years, we anticipate the addition of a MR-Linac within the Jefferson Network. The Medical Physics Division at Jefferson has a long history of educating leading medical physicists in research and clinical services. The center city physics division currently consists of 9 PhD level physicists, 1 MS level physicists, 6 dosimetrists, an IS group, and in-house engineering support. The Jefferson network continues to expand and currently has five regional RO department locations with 14 external beam radiotherapy systems, supported by 19 physicists.
Christiana Care Health System (CCHS) has 4 Elekta linear accelerators (1 Versa and 3 Infinity with Agility MLC with kV-CBCT and 1 CyberKnife system for SBRT, and 1 Siemens Primus linear accelerator with MV-CBCT. 3 Siemens CT simulators and 1 PET/CT. 4D CT sim is available on two scanners and advanced dual-energy Edge CT is available at the Helen F Graham Cancer Center. Pinnacle, MultiPlan, RayStation, Variseed, and Oncentra are used for treatment planning for all sites and integrated with Mosaiq R&V (v2.64). Christiana has a busy HDR (breast, skin, and gynecology) using CT and MR and LDR (real-time prostate implant) brachytherapy programs.
A Master’s degree, PhD, or Certificate in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP accredited graduate program is preferred. Those who have completed a graduate education from non-CAMPEP programs will also be considered. TJUH participates in the residency match system. TJUH and CCHS are Equal Opportunity Employers.
