Saint Michael's Medical Center, located in Newark, New Jersey has openings for part time and per diem Medical Physics Assistants to work under the consultative supervision of the Director of Medical Physics. Responsibilities include routine quality assurance tasks, perform patient specific plan verification and/or calculations, assist the Medical Physics team in daily, monthly and annual quality assurance tests. Also assist team with the development of customized software tools related to safe administration of the radiation to the cancer patients. Under supervision, perform other medical physics tasks as required.
The tri-hospital radiation oncology network is equipped with 3 linear accelerators including state-of-the-art TrueBeam, 3 CT simulators, GE and Siemens and offers conventional, IMRT/VMAT, SBRT and SRS treatments. The Medical Physics Assistant will join a team of radiation oncologists, physicists, a CMD and therapists treating 50 patients per day.
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in medical/health physics or closely related fields. Masters degree preferred. Minimum one year experience as a Health Physics Assistant in a hospital environment, or equivalent applicable work experience. New Jersey Certification as a Medical Physics Assistant in Radiology & Fluoroscopy (or eligible within one year of employment).
