St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking an experienced medical physicist to join the Department of Radiation Oncology.
You will join a team of five PhD prepared clinical medical physicists and three Master’s prepared dosimetrists in support of a practice of five physician faculty. You will be afforded an opportunity to work in the St. Jude Red Frog Proton Events Proton Therapy Center; the only proton therapy in the world dedicated to treating children where novel applications of unique, advanced technology are applied exclusively in our center.
The department has 45,000 square feet of clinical space and provides both conventional radiation therapy, brachytherapy and proton therapy. Both of our linear accelerators are equipped with image-guidance. We have dedicated imaging equipment, inclusive of a spectral CT, digital PET/CT and two MRI units (1.5 and 3T), which are used for radiation treatment planning and adaptive therapy.
The St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center includes two gantry rooms and a horizontal fixed beam room with a microbeam feature. Each is equipped with high-precision camera-assisted patient positioning and CBCT/planar x-ray for IGRT and dedicated pencil beam scanning nozzles.
Treatment planning is carried out using Eclipse, Pinnacle and RayStation in a MosaiQ environment with MIM Vista software. Special procedures include eye plaques, TBI, and TLI.
In this position, you will actively perform radiation physics services to ensure the delivery accuracy for pediatric patients, including machine calibration, equipment QA, treatment planning and related planning reviews, dosimetry measurements, and calculations.
You will also have opportunity to participate in clinical trials and clinically-focused research projects including medulloblastoma, ependymoma, atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor, craniopharyngioma and rhabdomyosarcoma, among others.

MS or PhD in Physical Sciences required.
Four (4) years of experience with MS in Physics.
Two (2) years of experience with MS in Medical Physics or PhD in Physics.
Completion of Part II of the American Board of Radiology Exam preferred.
