Medical Physics: Industry, Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology, Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology Dosimetry
You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as a Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology.
The SCL Hospital System is seeking an ABR Certified Medical Physicist for an upcoming opening in the Denver/Boulder area. The physicist will join a growing team of 9 physicians, 7 physicists, and 6 dosimetrists that cover 3 hospitals in the Denver Metro Area – all within a 30-minute drive of each other. Documentation, EMR, and QA processes are uniform across all 3 facilities, and travel between facilities is minimal – mostly for vacation and meeting coverage.
The hospitals are currently equipped with all Varian linacs including two TrueBeams, a Trilogy, an iX, and a 21EX. Plans are for three new TrueBeams in the next 2 years – one addition and two replacements. Construction and delivery has already begun for two of the new machines.
A busy HDR program that spans the gamut of treatments including interstitial, tandem and ovoid, APBI and cylinder is serviced by VariSource iX afterloaders. A robust SRS program includes frameless treatments using OSMS and frame-based treatments for trigeminal neuralgia. We have just transitioned to an Eclipse-only environment with the full armamentarium of software including RapidPlan, MCO, HyperArc, and Velocity. Aria v15.5 is the record and verify and the entire system is centralized and Citrix-based. Tools for QA include a full suite of Sun Nuclear equipment.
Saint Joseph Hospital is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. Our 365-bed facility is one of the top-ranked hospitals in Denver, and has been awarded the highest national recognition possible for nursing excellence – Magnet designation – by the ANCC. Our deep community roots date back to 1873, making us one of the oldest hospitals in Colorado.
As a Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology, you need to know how to:
Perform and document acceptance testing, commissioning, routine QA, and calibration for all Radiation Oncology radiation-related equipment.
Conduct initial, weekly, and final chart checks.
Generate SRS and HDR treatment plans.
Oversee therapeutic radioactive material program.
Perform quality assurance to support IMRT, IGRT, SRS, and SBRT programs.
We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we are seeking a candidate that is experienced and comfortable in a busy and varied clinical environment, enjoys working with a team, but is comfortable working independently. The ideal candidate would embrace the opportunity to perform almost every special procedure under the Medical Physics Sun utilizing cutting edge equipment and software. In addition, the candidate must have:
Master’s Degree in Medical Physics or related field
Board Eligible for certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology
5 years of experience (including residency)
Commissioning familiarity with Acuros and eMC
Scripting and Programming experience
Eligible to be on radioactive material license for HDR
