Cleveland Clinic has a clinical staff opening for a Nuclear Medical Physicist. Candidates must be American Board of Radiology Certified in Nuclear Medicine Physics. Certification in Diagnostic Imaging Physics is not required but is desirable. Candidates eligible to take Part 3 of the Nuclear Medicine Board Exam may be considered. The qualified candidate must have a minimum of a M.S. degree or equivalent in Medical Physics, Physics or a related discipline and have at least 3 years-experience.
The emphasis of this position is clinical nuclear medical imaging, including evaluation, integration, quality assurance, safe use of imaging equipment and may include clinical research related to radiation dose optimization and image quality improvement. Knowledge, familiarity and experience with diagnostic imaging instrumentation, particularly equipment used in PET and Nuclear Medicine. Familiarity with radiation measurement instrumentation, electronic test equipment, radiation monitors, and dosimetry equipment (including ionization chambers and luminescent dosimeters) is expected, as well as experience with medical imaging workstations, radioactive material license applications and amendments. Experience in the development and oversight of hospital based Imaging Department Quality Assurance Programs is preferred. Up to 25% overnight travel may be required.
In addition, the successful candidate will develop and be the primary clinical mentor for a one year medical physics residency rotation in nuclear medicine. This rotation will be offered as part of the CAMPEP approved diagnostic medical physics residency program. In order to support organizational growth, training of current staff will also be required.
