Kaiser Permanente-Northern California Region has an immediate opening for an experienced Board-Certified Diagnostic Medical Physicist or MR Scientist. The primary clinical responsibilities are to serve as the Region-wide subject matter expert (SME) in MRI by developing and maintaining a quality control program in MRI and by serving as a Regional technical resource in MR imaging and safety-related committee activities, especially as those activities relate to forming sound policies and procedures to be followed Region-wide. It is strongly preferred that the successful candidate be versed and skilled in other areas of diagnostic imaging and/or informatics to provide clinical medical physics services as a back-up to other staff physicists, as needed.
The successful candidate will join three board-certified Diagnostic Medical Physicists to develop, implement, and oversee a large-scale clinical QC program. Additional duties may include the review of reports from field service engineers, consultant medical physicists, internal compliance department, and external regulatory agencies. There may be occasional opportunities to provide focused instruction in MRI physics to technologists and service engineers for safety and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. May also include participation on Regional Protocol Committee and/or National KP technology selection teams. Written reports must be generated in a timely manner.
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in medical physics or a related field. Certified by The American Board of Radiology or the equivalent is required. Excellent verbal and written communication, and listening skills is a must. Must be willing to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
