Provide system wide Imaging Physicst support for regulatory compliance and high quality patient imaging.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES PEOPLE 1. Works with imaging staff to minimize impact of patient throughput while performing required equipment testing compliance. 2. Works with imaging staff to ensure image QA is routinely and appropriately performed. 3. Acts as a point of contact to relate and implement corrections of physician image quality concerns. 4. Provide counsel to all hospital staff in matters of radiation exposure.
FINANCE 1. Minimal financial responsibilities, mostly related to equipment recommendations and evaluations of value and performance on possible equipment purchases.
QUALITY/SAFETY 1. Ensures staff is are acting appropriately to minimize their own and co-worker's exposures as low as reasonable. 2. Establishes and/or audits quality and maintenance programs related to all imaging equipment. 3. Maintains paperwork and performs appropriate equipment surveys to demonstrate compliance with state and accrediting agency standards. 4. Works with various imaging departments to obtain accreditation on imaging equipment.
SERVICE 1. Works with imaging staff to minimize impact of patient throughput while performing required equipment testing compliance. 2. Creates and environment of personalize service that encourages techs and physicians to improve the imaging program as a whole. 3. Manage scheduling among all physicists to ensure proper system-wide coverage is maintained.
GROWTH/INNOVATION 1. This position is eventually expected to grow into a senior physicist position and manage all aspects of the clinical medical physics program. 2. This position is expected to work with departments to implement required and best practice QA imaging procedures in a manner that is not to onerous on staff. 3. Demonstrated professional growth through networking, and attendance at professional society meetings to maintain familiarity with new equipment and new techniques. 4. Continually evaluate QA and equipment evaluation program elements to assess possible improvements or improvements necessary due to equipment changes

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Master's degree in imaging physics or related field required. Candidate or Diplomate of the ABR in Diagnostic Medical Physics
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two years experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in most or all of the following modalities. Digital Mammography, Breast Tomosynthesis, MRI, Nuclear Medicine (SPECT and PET), CT, Interventional Fluoroscopy, and ultrasound.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED Required Licenses: Eligible to receive a Texas Medical Physics license to practice diagnostic radiologic physics Optional Certificates: American Board of Radiology(ABR) certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics, ABR certification in Nuclear Medical Physics or ABSNM in Nuclear Medicine Physics and Instrumentation, and/or MQSA qualified physicist including digital mammography and mammographic tomosynthesis.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED - Some travel in a personnel vehicle is required within the greater Houston area (no overnight travel). - Candidates must have solid written and verbal communication skills; computer skills; the ability to work as a team player; and be self- motivated. - Able to foster good working relationships with all departments system wide.
