The Department of Radiation Oncology at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven has an exceptional opportunity for a Director Radiation Oncology Physics to lead a well-established academic medical physics group with a track record of providing exceptional clinical care and advancing physics research. Smilow Cancer Hospital and the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale Medicine has fully integrated medical physics operations and this position offers benefits of practicing in a diverse academic radiation therapy department within a broader network of community and academic radiation therapy practices.
The Director Radiation Oncology Physics works collaboratively with Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale School of Medicine Leadership, helping plan and direct the programs and activities of Radiation Oncology Services across the Smilow Cancer Hospital enterprise. In collaboration with the Medical and Administrative Directors of Radiation Oncology, s/he develops a strategic plan and establishes short and long range goals and objectives. The Director Radiation Oncology Physics evaluates and develops medical physics strategic priorities including but not limited to: clinical programs, research, program accreditation, and quality assurance. As a leader, s/he promotes the development of and serves as a mentor to the physics and dosimetry staff to support professional and academic growth. S/he will perform other duties as assigned.
Doctorate degree in Medical Radiation Physics.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the administrative and managerial oversight of physics aspects of Radiation Oncology.
Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Medical Physics in Radiation Physics or the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM).
Strong leadership capabilities, including demonstrated ability to lead innovation, research efforts and positive change in a complex environment.
Experienced in developing and managing senior and staff physicists.
Experienced in the management of contracts including the coordination of off-site operations.
Strong work ethic, and the ability to keep pace with the department's growing and changing needs.
Excellent administrative, technical and fiscal management skills.
Proven ability to develop people, teams and self; to create a culture of respect and to model partnership and service orientation.
In-depth knowledge of computer networks, electronic medical records, operations and software applications relative to managing Radiation Oncology.
