Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology
Mills-Peninsula Medical Center (MPMC), located in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula Bay Area in San Mateo, California, is a Sutter Health affiliate and is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Physicist to partner with our dynamic patient-centered team. This full-time clinical leadership position will collaborate with one other ABR certified physicist, two certified medical dosimetrists, five radiation therapists and two board certified radiation oncologists.
MPMC’s Cancer Center treats an average of 40 patients across two Varian linear accelerators, including a TrueBeam STx with SRS/SBRT capabilities and breath-hold techniques. Simulations are performed on our GE Discovery PET/CT and our robust brachytherapy program utilizes a Varisource remote afterloader with SAVI/Capri/Tandem & Ring applicators. We also offer LDR and Xofigo treatments for our prostate patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager and Medical Director of Radiation Oncology, this role would provide technical expertise in the areas of patient treatment planning, therapy machine/radioactive sources calibration, radiation safety, and new technology research and implementation. This role would be actively involved in leading the clinical, educational, and research technical objectives of the Cancer Center team.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants will have a minimum of three years clinical experience. PhD in Medical Physics strongly preferred; Master’s degree in Medical Physics required. Proficiency with SRS/SBRT, VMAT/IMRT, Remote Planning, and HDR are required. Expertise with Aria & Eclipse is preferred. This position requires Certification by American Board of Radiology or American Board of Medical Physics within 1 year of joining, but must be at least board eligible at the time of hire.
