California Protons in San Diego, CA, is seeking candidates for proton therapy physicist positions to add to the current staff. The successful applicant will meet the following critieria:
M.S. or Ph.D.degree
Board Certification in therapeutic radiological physics
Works well in a team
Possesses good communication skills
Experience in proton therapy and Aria/Eclipse preferable
The proton center is the first Varian ProBeam proton system installed in the United States. The center utilizes pencil-beam scanning in five rooms: three gantry rooms (equipped with CBCT & KV for IGRT) and two fixed beam rooms (KV imaging). The on-site imaging center is fully equipped with a GE large bore 4D CT scanner, a GE 1.5 T wide bore MRI unit and a GE PET/CT system. The facility has a full pediatric recovery suite to manage patients under anesthesia in partnership with Rady Children's Hospital, San Diego. The Physics Department has assorted ion chambers, 3D (PTW) water phantom, 2D ion chamber matrix (PTW Octavius 729 XDR), SunNuclear Daily QA3, 2D (Lynx) imaging system and Logos XRV2020 Beam Profiler. We use SDX for gating/breath-hold treatments.
We treated our first patient in February 2014 and hosted the PTCOG 54 meeting in 2015. Interested applicants should send curriculum vitae and the names and contact information for three references.

It primarily treats patients from throughout the southwestern United States, but has a large draw from international patients from Asia and Australia. The center is staffed by Proton Doctors Professional Corporation, a medical group comprised of Radiation Oncologists with among the greatest amount of proton therapy experience in the world.
