FACULTY POSITION: DEPARTMENT OF RADIATION ONCOLOGY, Thomas Jefferson University, is now accepting applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Applicants should have qualifications to meet junior or senior faculty rank. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.S. degree and be Board certified or eligible in the field of Therapeutic Medical Physics. Responsibilities will include patient care in a number of areas, which include clinical services at the main campus and coverage of network affiliates. Preference will be given to candidates with previous TrueBeam, advanced treatment planning and strong brachytherapy expertise
The Radiation Oncology Department at Thomas Jefferson University including its Center City campus and affiliate centers offers state-of-the-art treatment capabilities. The Medical Physics Division currently consists of 17 physicists and six physics residents. System-wide equipment includes Varian TrueBeams, Truebeam Edge with ExacTrac, Elekta Synergy linacs with 4D CBCT, HexaPOD robotic couch, large bore 4D CT, Elekta HDR, Gamma Knife and Cyberknife. Treatment planning is carried out using Eclipse and Monaco TPS in a Mosaiq environment, with MIMvista deformable fusion available. Other special procedures include IORT, TBI, TSET and extensive brachytherapy programs for the treatment of breast, prostate, skin, GYN, hepatic and ocular diseases. Prostate HDR is carried out in our BrachySuite using real-time US-guided Oncentra Prostate planning.
The Medical Physics Division of the Radiation Oncology Department has an active academic program that includes strong research efforts in a number of areas. The candidate will have opportunities to take part in ongoing research programs or to initiate new research directions. Faculty appointment will be made available commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments. The physicist is expected to take part in the training of both physician and physics residents. Involvement in the teaching of the Jefferson medical physics graduate program and medical dosimetry program is also available. The physics residency program is CAMPEP accredited.
