Medical Physics: Nuclear Medicine, Medical Physics: Radiation Oncology Dosimetry
We are a dynamic startup company in a new and fast-growing segment of the cancer therapy business, radiopharmaceutical therapy. We are seeking to implement state of the art quantitative imaging and dosimetry methods developed with 45+ years of NIH grant funding in order to improve the efficacy and outcomes in radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPTs) for cancers.
RPT exploits pharmaceuticals that bind specifically to tumors or accumulate, by a broad array of physiological mechanisms, to the neoplastic cells or to their microenvironment. The targeting pharmaceuticals are radiolabeled with different radionuclides to deliver radiation directly to the target. The fundamental and distinguishing aspect of RPT relative to other cancer therapeutics is the ability to select the radionuclide, and in particular the type of radiation emissions that are delivered.
A key question with RPTs is how much to administer to kill tumors and not produce toxicities. Rapid’s technology helps answer this question using unique quantitative imaging methodology that is especially applicable to radionuclides used in RPT and methods for estimating the dose (energy per unit mass) deposited in tissues. The methods provide predictions of tumor response and normal organ toxicity
We are seeking a part-time or full-time medical physicist to join our company. Applicants must have an advanced degree in physics or engineering, a strong background in math and medical image processing and analysis tools and methods, and strong computer skills.
The successful candidate will be motivated, able to work in a self-directed environment that requires attention to detail, flexibility, willingness to learn and adapt, ability to multi-task, and collaboration with other employees and customers from multiple technical and health care disciplines.
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: Hours and rate negotiable based on experience and skills.
