Will perform daily physics tasks, physics coverage, and work as the radiation safety officer. Coverage is needed for full-time, on-site physics coverage. This position provides physics services by following department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population.
Ensures operation and safety of all machines in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
Provides support and assistance in delivery of radiation therapy treatments, including advanced specialized therapies.
Performs computer treatment planning on an as needed basis.
Oversees the implementation of new modalities and protocols.
On standby as a resource for all staff.
Assist staff with continuing education on medical physics and radiation safety procedures as needed.
Conducts self in professional manner in all interactions; encourages teamwork and shows efficient use of resources.
Performs evaluations as necessary to ensure accurate dose delivery for treatments.
Oversees the maintenance of all requirements to satisfy ACR accreditation guidelines.
Participates in regular peer reviews.
Responsible and accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the Medical Physics practice. This includes HIPPA guidelines and regulations.
Master’s Degree or PhD in Medical Physics.
Current certification from the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics and licensure by the State of Texas.
Must possess knowledge in medical physics including regulations governing the use of radiation in medicine, advanced computer skills, advanced treatment planning, and quality control procedures. Must demonstrate effective communication, human relations, data analysis and problem solving skills.

Working knowledge with BrainLab/ExacTrac, iPlan, SRS, SBRT
