Special Procedures for, but not limited to IORT (the only program currently in the state), I-131, Y90, SRS/SBRT and HDR brachytherapy

Responsible for the provision of the physic services for the therapeutic radiation treatment of patients and the physical aspects of all radiation sources. Qualified to serve as the Radiation Safety Officer for the medical center.
Works under the direction of the physician in charge of the Radiation Oncology Department as well as the Director of Oncology. The Chief Physicist has leadership for the activities of the radiation physics and associated dosimetrist staff within the department who provide consultative support in medical physics to Physicians and determines optimal clinical use of radiation generated by a variety of treatment equipment in the field of radiation therapy. This position is also accountable for directing all radiation safety activities involving the use of radioactive sources and is responsible for teaching radiation physics to Physicians and technicians at their respective subject matter levels.
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
Certification by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics

Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification
Required Education or Experience
Master's degree in medical or radiological physics
Three years of post-residency therapeutic radiological physics experience.
