Vanderbilt Integrated Providers, an affiliate of Vanderbilt University Medical Center (“VUMC”), is seeking a medical physicist to provide full-time clinical radiation therapy physics services for Gateway-Vanderbilt Cancer Treatment Center (“GVCTC”), located in Clarksville, TN.
Gateway-Vanderbilt Cancer Treatment Center is currently staffed with 2 radiation oncologists who rotate coverage, 1 dosimetrists, 3 radiation therapists, 1 RN, 1 administrative assistant and has a shared billing coordinator. The clinic is equipped with a Varian 2100EX linear accelerator with IMRT and MV portal imaging, Aria R&V system, Siemens Somatom Definition AOS large bore CT scanner. External beam treatment planning is performed using Eclipse. Plans are in place for an additional linear accelerator (TrueBeam) to be installed in the Spring of 2018.No special procedures are performed.
The ideal candidate for this clinical position will be responsible for the precise and accurate delivery of radiation treatment plans and for the safety of patients and treatment staff. As such, he / she will be expected to:
Perform clinical medical physicist duties such as chart checking, machine calibrations and quality assurance as dictated by state & federal regulations as well as VUMC clinical policies.
Assist dosimetry as well as independently perform external-beam treatment planning activities.
Perform acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment, gathering dosimetry data and implementing new treatment modalities and techniques. This includes instruction and training of clinical personnel regarding safe and proper use as well as policy & procedure development.
Serve as radiation inspector for the location
Effectively function within the greater radiation oncology treatment team, providing technical clinical leadership locally as the sole physicist at GVCTC (g. participation in chart rounds, credentialing and safety initiatives) as well as support to VUMC Medical Physics network efforts.
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with experience. The clinic is open Monday – Friday 8am-4:30pm.
