The medical physicist ensures the quality of care in the use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment while protecting patients and staff from radiation.
This physicist is a lead position that will be overseeing physics and dosimetry for 4 sites. They will join a team of 3 physicists and 4 dosimetrists. The physicist will be expected to play a significant role in clinical physics, radiation safety duties, as well as direct the departments’ research and educational mission.
Facilities and Equipment:
The physics and dosimetrist team provides services to 4 sites. Two of the sites are equipped with two linear accelerators. Each of those two sites has a True Beam and Elekta accelerator. The other two sites each have a single Varian iX. All of the sites have OBI and deliver 3D-CRT, IMRT, VMAT, SRS, and SBRT. Three of the sites are actively involved in HDR treatments utilizing Elekta’s Oncentra brachytherapy system. Two of the sites offer LDR prostate seed implants utilizing Variseed. Additional technology includes MOSAIQ R&V, Eclipse treatment planning, BrainLab, HD-120 MLC, RadCalc, and GE Lightspeed CT.
Board Certified either by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics in the appropriate Medical Physics specialty required.
Master's degree in Medical Physics required, or Master's degree in a physical science with additional medical physics coursework and satisfactory completion of a Medical Physics Residency program required Doctorate degree preferred
