The Department of Radiation Medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute has an immediate opening for a highly motivated medical physicist to join 7 physicists and 4 medical physicist assistants in the support of all clinical physics activities offered in the department and its satellite facilities. Clinical equipment at the main campus includes four Varian linacs (mixture of TrueBeam and Trilogy units), an Elekta ICON Gamma Knife unit, a Nucletron HDR afterloading unit, a GE Lightspeed 16 slice CT simulator, a superficial x-ray unit, and a Varian Eclipse treatment planning network. The department EMR is Elekta Mosaiq. State-of-the-art treatment techniques offered in the clinic include SBRT, SRS, HDR IORT, TBI, and TSEI. Faculty and Staff also provide medical physics services to 2 local and 2 regional satellite facilities, all equipped with state-of-the-art treatment planning and delivery technology.
Academic activities such as basic and applied research and development of new treatment techniques along with teaching / mentoring students within the CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics Graduate Program offered in the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo will also be encouraged. An appointment at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor with SUNY is also possible depending on research and teaching experience.
The position requires a Ph.D in Medical Physics and graduation from a CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics Residency Program. Board certification (or eligibility) by the ABR is required, and participation in the ABR MOC program is expected. Exceptional candidates currently enrolled in a CAMPEP-accredited residency program that expect to graduate in 2017 and are scheduled to take Part 2 of the ABR Board exam in August 2017 will also be considered.
