Group Leader –Research Radiation Therapy Physics

Applications are invited for the post of Full-time Group Leader in Research Radiation Therapy Physics at the CRUK/MRC Oxford Institute for Radiation Oncology, Department of Oncology, University of Oxford. You will be an outstanding academic leader and will establish in Oxford an independent, innovative research programme concerning the application of physics concepts in radiation oncology.
In addition to the existing fleet of six Varian linacs, plans are underway to install an MR-Linac in 2018 within the Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust Radiotherapy Department, and a proton beam facility shortly thereafter in the context of a Precision Cancer Medicine Initiative. Imaging capability includes state of the art clinical and pre-clinical CT, MRI and PET with a recently opened radiochemistry and radiopharmacy laboratory on site. Research support will include a 5 or 7-year (depending on seniority), potentially renewable, CR-UK programme, including appropriate salary, laboratory space, office space and equipment, funding for personnel (research fellows, graduate students and technical support) and consumables. A Professorial title in the University may be sought for suitably qualified applicants.
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in Physics or related subject and significant postdoctoral experience, as well as proven clinical experience in Radiotherapy Physics, an outstanding publication record and demonstrable aptitude and experience as an outstanding academic leader.
